| - This will be the first time I ever post a review, but considering my S.O. and I relied heavily on reviews when searching for an apartment, I ought to return the favor. We moved here half a year ago, deciding that the less-than-enthused reviewers must just be grumpy, because the place seemed beautiful and there were no obvious faults.
PROS:
AMAZING location. Great for athletes because Tempe Town Lake and the super-long greenway are right outside your door. I also love biking across the bridge to get to ASU every day. The light rail is right there too.
Pet-friendly. Lots of cute pets around, accommodating to their "potty needs".
Ginormous apartments. This was the only apartment we could find that could actually hold all of our stuff.
The grounds maintenance staff is really friendly. Borderline creepy, but friendly.
Pretty nice gym. Although its A/C sucks.
There is a movie theater-like thing. That was a big draw for us, although we've never actually used it and probably never will.
You get used to the airplane noise and it is actually pretty soothing.
The kitchen is huge and has a pantry.
The washer/dryer is far away from the bedroom so you don't have that much noise if you dry stuff while you sleep.
CONS:
Management puts all their emphasis on getting you in. Everything seems FANTASTIC on the tour but once you're in they get sloppy. When I go to get packages sometimes they miss a package and I have to send them back there multiple times before they find that other one they just swore wasn't there. When I put in a maintenance request because my fridge/freezer is broken and everything is thawing and leaking, they said "Okay, that isn't like an emergency or anything though, right?" I've been waiting for two hours and still nothing.
Getting good neighbors is a luck-of-the-draw. We saw so many working adults when touring that we assumed it would be classy, but they must live on the other side of the place because ours smoke pot and shout random stuff from their balconies until 3am.
Everything is always broken. We loved that this was a gated community but the gate is perpetually broken. Most of the grills don't work. The doors to stairwells are always broken, and the elevator is frequently out.
There are no grocery stores nearby. Getting them takes 1hr+ during rush hour.
Their dishwashers suck.
They throw in a mandatory extra fee for taking your garbage out for you if you leave it outside, but that never actually happens so we're losing money and taking out our own trash.
Overall, I love my room and the location, but the rest is not up to par. If it was, it would be worth the money. I'd like to move somewhere less expensive in the future.
