Just visiting...looking for a decent place to feed the fam, away from the touristy area. About quarter to 12, the place is packed and a line has formed outside. Service is fast! The BIG bell announces when food is ready. The owner works behind the counter (makes awesome salads!), greets even the youngest customer. Definitely has rapport with locals, repeat customers and visitors like us. But what about the food?!?
Sonio's has great rotisserie chicken (known for), big gorgeous salads, so-so with the American food fare (Chicago dogs- teenager review) and generous with their burritos (no kidding). The Spanish rice and crinkle cut fries were typical. But the chicken - definitely yuuummmy! Reason for the 3 stars? They charge you a fee for splitting a meal which in my view was an extra paper plate. When I asked, they said it was on the menu... don't recall seeing it.
So come for the awesome food, the cool owner, the vibe of the place but beware of fees!
