| - Owner contacted me: in case you are curious, they serve David Rio chai here. Ingredients are cane sugar, creamer (coconut oil, corn syrup solids, sodium caseinate [a milk derivative], mono and diglycerides, dipotassium phosphate, soy lecithin),
honey granules, black tea powder, natural spice blend, natural flavors.
To me, a product like this is kinda like serving powdered hot cocoa in a chocolate shop--that's not why you spend more money for a beverage than you would at home, as you can make this with either hot water or milk because it already has the creamer added. So a beverage that would have milk, tea, spices, and sweetener turns into another beverage altogether when you use a powder.
I will admit, though--a powdered chai can make a great iced beverage because it adds more mouthfeel (coconut oil/corn syrup solids) but for a hot beverage, it's not as good as adding liquid tea mix to milk.
