I went in pretty excited and interested to try this place seeing the high ratings on Yelp, and also how they have cheese in their tea drinks. I went with a friend and glanced around the walls where there are multiple posters, then soon the cashier told us to walk up to her because the menus were there. So we walked up to the cashier looking at their regular laminated menu and ordered a medium sized drink each - the Green Tea with Cheese and Bubble Milk Tea with Puff Cream. Our total came to approx. $11.50.
Once we sat down and looked again on the wall we realized the order we made was a Combo deal. They have a poster with three combo deals A, B, C, where if you order a medium size of two specific drinks your total would be only $8.99 plus tax. We then realized the two drinks that we ordered in medium were exactly combo A. I went back to the cashier asking if what we ordered would've applied to the Combo A deal. It's not a big deal since it's only a dollar difference but I wanted to make sure and wondered why the cashier didn't tell me about the deal when I ordered.
The cashier's first response was "oh you should've told us when you ordered" - understood, you probably can't go back and change the transaction and that's fine because it's only a small difference. She could've stopped there and I'll know for next time. But what she said immediately after that sentence made me speechless, she said:
1. "We don't know what's in the combos so you have to tell us you wanted a Combo A" - That just shows how much you know about the products you're selling - how could you even use this as a defence...
2. "And you didn't know about the Combo before you ordered" - Well maybe you could've told me?! There were three employees behind the cash register looking at us waiting for us to tell them our order, the store was empty with no other customers, and it was obvious that it was our first time there with the clueless-ness on our faces...you had all opportunity to tell me what you have to offer.
So I just turned around and left because there's no point talking to someone with this attitude at this point. My friend and I were planning to sit around and chat because the place was empty and quiet but we decided to just leave and go elsewhere. I'm sure if I went to a fast food joint and ordered everything separately they'd ask me if I'd want to make it a combo, or just charge me as a combo than everything separately because they know what they're selling and what's the better deal for the customer.
