This is my 3rd review of this restaurant. The first was glowing because the tamales were delicious. The second was two stars because I'd sampled some of the other fare and while it wasn't horrible, it would have to come up a notch to be OK. Since then, I've tried some of the other dishes again and decided it must have been a bad night. I was all ready to raise the rating to 3 stars - and then tonight I had the worst tamales I've ever had in my life. The masa was burned, the pork was bone dry, and the whole thing tasted like Clorox. So I think I've figured this place out: It's quality is extremely unpredictable. When it's good, it's great. When it's not, it's a little worse than OK. The people are super; the interior's gorgeous, as are the drinks, but the food is hit or miss. Straighten out the inconsistency in the kitchen and this would be an allstar TexMex for Central Illinois.
