  • I've been to Coca Cafe for a total of four times. I ordered the challah French toast with melted Brie and fig jam and fresh mixed berries the first time. I loved the marble tables in the back of the restaurant - it added to the aesthetic of the picture and the dish. I'm not a big fan of Brie but the taste wasn't too strong which was good. The second time I went, I ordered the grilled shrimp and aged cheddar grits with poached eggs. I love grits but I wasn't sure how it would taste with cheddar cheese. It was a bit heavy and thick in my opinion so the grilled shrimp evened it out a bit but I don't think I'd get it again. I also ordered the almond coca mocha and it was sooo amazing! I would order it in the future again. And the third time, I ordered the shakshuka with eggs baked in spicy tomato sauce in an iron skillet with pita bread, potatoes, and fresh fruit on the side. This was an interesting dish because I've never had anything like this before. I definitely recommend dipping the pita bread with the eggs and tomato sauce because just eating the tomato sauce itself is a bit boring and doesn't seem like you're eating a meal. The flavor of the dish was a bit foreign to me in that there seemed to be a lot of spices but overall it was a good new experience. I tried something new this time: the Fried Eggplant Benedict! I think as I'm aging, I'm growing to love all different kinds of veggies so I went with the eggplant. It came with poached eggs with roasted cherry tomatoes on top, covered by basil hollandaise. And the English muffins under all of that. I was scared that the hollandaise would be too much for me but I really really enjoyed it. I liked the different textures of the fried eggplant, the poached eggs, and the roasted tomatoes. A bit of a warning though, the space inside is not too big so it can get crowded and loud during its busy hours. It's a popular breakfast/brunch place so I would say that for the weekends, you'd need to go in early to be seated quickly. Otherwise, the service is nice and friendly.
