  • As we drove for the very first time on the 720 into Old Montreal, we saw the different buildings and quickly made out one that said Marriott. That's our hotel! Drive thataway! But our GPS commanded us to take a right into a small, skinny street and assured us that "destination is ahead". Surely, Chuckie (our name for our GPS) was mistaken. But, of course, he wasn't. We drove our SUV into a one-vehicle driveway that would be the main entrance to the hotel. This definitely wasn't the Marriott we saw in the skyline. This one was a cramped version of the usual Marriotts we've stayed in. The room we were given was cramped. They had provided us with a pack-n-play but we didn't set it up anymore as there was barely enough room for it. Maybe we just got the wrong card this time. But I do have to note that the indoor pool is really just a wading pool (maximum depth is 3'8") and don't expect you can do your laps here either. No matter, we were comfortable and the kids were happy. Indeed, there's a free breakfast buffet in the mezzanine and free internet connection. And this hotel is in a great location! There are lots of quaint restaurants and shops within walking distance. And as Jeffrey K. and PC W. have already noted, it's close to Place d'Armes Station, Notre Dame and City Hall. Most importantly and strategically for us, it's so close to the Montreal Science Center. We have free passes and so we spent the whole weekend venturing inside. During both days, we just walked. Temps were at 7 degrees but we thought it was a piece of cake! On our last day, upon check-out, we loaded our vehicle and the hotel allowed for an extended parking till 4 pm with no extra charge. So, we were able to maximize the Science Center without having to park in their garage. If we were to come back to Old Montreal, we would definitely consider staying here again! Au revoir!
