| - You're probably asking why one star. Well, because it's the closest thing to the sheer disdain and loathsome disgust I have for this shop. I'm sure everyone who works there are good people, but they did not conduct themselves in anywhere near a reputable or recommendable manner when it came to my car. In short: Do not give this repair shop your business, your money or your time. Unless it is a minor repair, they will drive your insurance coverage to the breaking point.
Let me give you a timeframe. June 5th, I get into an accident and my car (a standard edition Volkswagen Jetta, nothing fancy) needs towed to a tow yard. Wokutch Inc., recommended to me by the guy who towed me, gets my car from the tow yard (using a different tow company because "we've had our issues with the one you used") on Thursday June 8th and the repair process is started on my vehicle. I call on the 13th, the following Tuesday, and the shop states the body repair on my car is done and it just needs to go into paint. So far, this is in-keeping with the insurance estimate of 3-5 days for repair. When I call back a couple days later on the 15th, the paint is done and they say "We're just waiting on one of our mechanics to look at it cause we found out something wrong with your suspension."
Now, i could have told them as much, as could my insurance adjuster had they looked all over the car. Also, before I continue, may I remind you the only reason I was towed was because my car was not drivable, so how Wokutch Inc. doesn't notice a suspension issue when doing work on my vehicle, meaning it has to be up on struts, is beyond me. Anyway, back to the play by play.
Over the course of the next two weeks, I call Wokutch Inc. a couple times a week to ask what's going on. I only wanted to know if a mechanic had looked at my car, as the repairs had only ever been estimated as a 3 day repair. We were way over the window of repair. Every time I call, I get one of the following excuses: 1) "our mechanics are busy, but we're gonna try and get it in today" or 2) "we're swamped here, and one mechanic might be free when he gets back from lunch, but he has to finish up an inspection," or #3, my personal favorite: "We're trying guy, but one of our mechanics is on vacation, and the other just called off sick, so I'm down to one." This entire time, no work was being done on my car and it was sitting in neglect on their premises.
It was only when I pressed Wokutch Inc, on Thursday June 29th, as we hit the three-week mark of my car being with them, by calling another local auto body place to potentially have my car transferred there, that I was informed what the specific issue with my suspension was and that they needed to hear an official "all clear" from my insurance due to needing to update my original estimate.
Let me remind you, that after they "found" the suspension issue with my car shortly after repairs finished during the week of June 12th, my car sat unattended to on Wokutch's grounds for ~two weeks. There was no effort, as far as I know, on their part during that two weeks to call my insurance or figure out the specifics of the suspension damage. They seemed perfectly content to just leave my car sitting there, taking care of other clients. My favorite of these was when I called and the told me: "we're looking to get it to one of our mechanics, but he's working on an inspection, is at lunch and needs to finish the inspection when he gets back." I'm still stumped as to how a walk-in state inspection appointment takes precedence over a car that's been on your lot with a known issue rendering it unsafe to drive. That to me seems like a more urgent matter.
After some more back and forth between Wokutch Inc., my insurance, and a second claims adjuster from my insurance who gave them the all clear, on June 30th, the issue with my suspension was finally fixed starting that day. Again, let me re-iterate. They found the issue with my suspension the week of June 12th and did nothing to fix it until June 30th. I need a car for work. The mere fact that i had to have a rental car for 28 days, which drove my coverage through my insurance to the breaking point, when it should have been at most a full week once the suspension issue was "noticed" is the definition of both lunacy and poor business practices.
A full 25 calendar days, two weeks after all the other work had been completed, my vehicle was finally worked on by a mechanic.
I got my car back on July 3rd at 4:30pm, only after telling them i did not need it detailed and cleaned, after they had spent 2 full days working on my suspension. July 3, 2017 is almost a full month after the accident.
In short, I do not recommend Jeff Wokutch Auto Body Inc. Avoid them.
