| - The membership shopping experience here is like a bad used car lot.
Found out about a "trial free week" but it's a scam. First, it's not really a free week trial. You have to actually SIGN UP and the "free week" is that "we won't charge you until the week is over."
Great; However, Arizona only has a 3-day statutory rescission. And, although they claim theirs is 5 days, that still means that if you work out for the full 7 day "trial" you are already past the cancellation window, and will have to pay at least 2 months of fees (and don't forget that one-time $40 fee) because cancellation requires 30-day notice! Slick, right?!?
That "free" trial just cost you at LEAST $60 and that's for the minimum plan, no classes, no extras.
The sales pitch itself is like a bad car dealership. They have one kid who tells you the prices, then they get some guy who's wayyyy overdone his muscles to grossness to come and say he can give you a smokin' deal on personal training, showing you a well-worn piece of paper with a list of outrageous prices, then flips over his paper to reveal a "different" list of still-outrageous-but-lower prices. (Oh, p.s. (Shocker) its "today only," "last spot at this price") LMAO.
They purposely have the prices listed as "bi-monthly" which is a legally-ambiguous term meaning EITHER twice a month OR every two months. That's right, "bi-monthly" has no legal definition! So if you'd like to take them to court, ambiguity of contract terms is definitely your winning argument.
Additionally, the "reasonable" membership fee sheet does not disclose the $40 annual fee, curiously named a "price guarantee fee" but is not optional, even if you'd like to take your chances that the price may or may not go up. Thus, it's actually just a way to get more money after your brain has gotten used to the idea of the monthly fee, so they wait to spring it a little later, after you're halfway through signing up and they have already captured your your financial information...shady?!?
All in all, I'm glad I walked in with a "review the place as a non-interested observer" attitude, or I might (probably not--too pushy) have fallen for the obvious B.S. Instead, I immediately googled the reviews, and was not surprised to learn they are horrible regarding anything to do with money. This came across immediately during the "scamathon" but I played along.
Hope this review helps someone.
You're welcome.
