  • I recently rented a car from the Charlotte Budget to attend a friend's wedding. I reserved the car through priceline.com for a total of $125.17 for the three days. When I arrived in Charlotte I added a friend as a driver as a precautionary measure. I am from the state of California, which I now realize has made it illegal for rental car companies to charge extra for this service. Therefore, when I asked to add the driver it was under the assumption that there was no additional charge. However, rather than let me know that there was an additional charge per day the attendant merely processed my request. In the end I paid an additional $50.26 to merely put my friends name on the account even though she never even drove the vehicle. The fact that I would have never added this driver if I had been given the appropriate information made me feel it necessary to contact Budget Customer service. Their response was to say that I had signed the contract so they were sorry but there was nothing they could do about removing the additional charge. I am extremely disappointed across the board and will not be renting from Budget Rental Car in the future.
