| - we had to move from Northern WA state to southern CA, so a pretty long trip we figured we would drive a uhaul but my husband filled out something on Internet and all of sudden we have 6 moving companies calling us giving us quotes. some were out of our prices based on weights but some gave us much more reasonable price based on space.We heard from USA moving and storage with Shawn, pretty nice guy on the phone telling us with what you have its gonna be around $1300 and you only have a put a $200 deposit, then give half of the total to the movers when they pick up everything and finally the rest when they drop everything off. sounded good, we had 2 weeks until we had to move because of my husband's job. He said no problem the guys will be picking up everything 2 days before you have to move, we paid the deposit.
Then a couple days later we have 20more boxes , he said no problem it will be $200 more, we said okay, total of $1500 is not bad ( that was our price limit ).
1days before they were suppose to pick up, Shawn called us saying how the movers couldn't come their truck was full or something, they have to go to Portland and so another truck will have to come but its not possible for Thursday, they will come Monday or Tuesday... WHAT we are leaving Saturday morning and giving our keys back to the owners ! Sorry he said cant do anything about that. So we found a trusted friend who will be there to open the door for the movers, talk with our landlord and of course we will have to pay for any extra days.
Anyway they called us on Monday saying they cant be there Monday or Tuesday, it will be Thursday or Friday and the price will be $250 more ! WHAT i was more than irritated, are you kidding ? i want to talk to your manager !! he transfers me ( supervisor GUY), and i explain noway I'm paying extra when they are already late, he says that's how it is, i could give u half price of the new increase and only increase $125 after a couple minute of me being not so nice... FINE i said but we are already in CA and the movers better be there Thursday ( we are now at $1625)!
Well Friday the drivers calls me saying his truck broke down so he will have to get another one, he can show up Saturday... while my friend was getting a little irritated as well by me calling him every other day to change his plans i was starting to think maybe this company isn't real and they are scamming us... on Saturday a call from the driver Hmm I'm in Oregon, so i will be there tomorrow Sunday between 9am and 1pm.
So the next day the driver is finally at my home, they put everything in the truck, well now that you gave us $730 the rest at delivery will be another $1217 !! i was sooo mad, i call the manager asking for a price reduction, he said i cant do anything, even the driver didn't want to do it... i made him repeat, what do you mean your employee doesn't want to do his job ?!! he started talking about something else...well is there anything else i can help you with ? i was so shocked i said no, because i wanted to make sure they would actually deliver my things...
So exactly 1 week later the truck arrives and they start bringing everything of course they had to be paid first, because in my mind i wanted to call the police on their BIG SCAM how does the price goes from $1500 to $2147 and a week and a half later ?!
The movers were actually polite and quick, they brought our things nicely and left. well to conclude this really long story... NEVER NEVER USE USA MOVING AND STORAGE ( 1st CHOICE, which is one of their subsidiary )
