  • Housed in one of the most beautiful buildings saved from the wrecking ball, this place introduces visitors to the historical importance of Pittsburgh. Some installations are permanent and others change but the feeling is the same. This place is a treasure trove of Pittsburgh. It's almost like opening up an encyclopedia and having Pittsburgh come to life. There are just enough 'markers' and plaques to describe everything but the best feeling is to stand back and listen to the stories told by the long time residents as they introduce their out-of-town friends to this wonderful city. Want to know why people might leave the 'city center' but still stay in Southwestern PA? Just listen. Want to know why so many of us feel so connected to this city? Just listen. Want to know where we get our 'Pittsburgh-slang'? Just listen. There's a 'family feel' in every neighborhood of this city, you just have to listen...
