| - I'm probably a die-hard Rainforest Café fan.
I just love it. The Yorkdale location more than the Niagara falls location (although I've been to both many times since I was a preteen). I've noticed the service and quality aren't as good as they used to be and sometimes its hit or miss. It is a tad overpriced but I do like the food and the atmosphere (gorillas beating on their chests, a crocodile in the front, elephants raising their trunks, butterflies flapping their wings, an aquarium filled with fish and the starry sky, yeah... I love it). Basing off my last experience, dinner on a Saturday night, I'd say it was pretty good. We didn't have reservations and the wait was 35 minutes but I didn't care. I was in Yorkdale.. more time to shop, and the mall closes at 9 PM ON SATURDAY NIGHTS!!!
We shopped and came back, they initialed a sheet of paper and sent us to another line. I was confused at first because they gave us no instructions but the "tour guide" for the line was really nice and in less than five minutes we were seated.
I have to say, the service was a little slow. I didn't mind because we got an appetizer, but if we had only ordered mains I know I would be starving during the wait.
I ordered a strawberry daiquiri (with whipped cream!) $9, Mogambo shrimp pasta (my favourite) $23.99, and my boyfriend and I shared a dynamite shrimp appetizer (free when you check in!).
The strawberry daiquiri was delicious, I had to get it. They dynamite shrimp appetizer was really good, it was a shrimp dip with delicious deep fried chips. It had a distinct sweet flavour to it, it's something I would have again. The Mogambo shrimp pasta was pretty good, the only issue I had with it was that instead of the noodles they used to use (I think it was penne, maybe bowtie, probably penne...) were now replaced with spiral macaroni. I did not like that. I will specifically ask for penne next time.
The sauce was good-a little thinner than I remembered, there was lots of shrimp, and the sun dried tomatoes and mushrooms were good.
Our server was friendly and somewhat attentive (it was busy) and the manager came by to see how our meal was.
I had a great dinner and a great experience. I know I'll be back :).
