| - I've only had my child in this school district so I couldn't tell you how they rate versus others, only what my expectation of what it should be is. My child has gone to Echo Mountain for 6 years. His teachers from K thru 4th were all VERY GOOD. His teacher in 5th this year was promoted from a media assistant and worked in the After The Bell Program. She's actually never taught a class from what I've gathered. While I'm sure she is a nice person, why did the school start her off with 5th graders??? She yells at the class when she's angry and and is incapable of maintaining order.
I have had issues with the lunch and duty aides as well, in that decisions are made aggressively and without any consistency. Think the worst babysitter you ever had for your kid and their you have the duty aides at Echo Mountain. During recess they seldom pay attention and many children have gotten hurt some seriously, some not.
The leadership at the school, from a principal who retired on the elementary side a couple of years ago, to McKinney (intermediate) and then to Schrey have been under performers clearly not in touch with the day to day on goings within the school.
If you child goes here, hope you get a good teacher and then visit frequently (eat lunch with your child is what I do), and ask a lot of questions about how things are going in the classroom.
The following teachers (all female) were Very Good; Schwartz (transferred), Babcock, Kennedy, Pinchoff, and Shelby.
