  • @theWestinPrince I live in Toronto, but I've been coming here since I was kid to the restaurant with my parents. I've seen the place develop from the old 70s/80s style hotel to a crisp clean and modern establishment. Most recently, I stayed here for two nights on my wedding day in one of the Suites. They were really good a year ago, taking us on a tour (only when they were available) of the Executive Suites, Regular Room and Deluxe Suite. We opted for the Deluxe Suite as there was two rooms (bedroom and living), two bathrooms, wetbar, and a lot of open space for me and my girls to get ready. The Executive Suite was almost double the price, but with the exception of much nicer decor, darker woods and a big boardroom (with a kitchen that does not work) there wasn't much of a justification for the cost. It also seemed like they have more of the Deluxe Suites (an entire floor, I think). We checked in, and they were going to offer us 1 welcome drink or 25,000 Starwood points bonus. Given this was a double occupancy, it seemed ridiculous that they couldn't offer a 2nd drink. And it's my Wedding Night! We made a big fuss about this, and seemed like the Manager at the front desk was either unwilling or unable to do this. It's only like $7 at the most. I had wanted to take photos in the Green area downstairs. I asked and asked, but I was unable to 'book it ahead of time' and on the night before, turns out there was a private reception being held in the area. The next day, they were getting it ready for a Wedding ceremony, and I was unable to take photos there. I was really sad, but on the day of my Wedding couldn't stress too much. There were a lot of nice places to take photos, and I'm upset that I was unable to use any of it, nor could anyone give me a straight answer whether it would be available. Instead, the Suite was located right in front of some Green area in between two different wings of the hotel. We used this, but it was 2nd rate. Parking I think it's ridiculous that a Hotel of this calibre, espeically if you are staying in the hotel, gives no parking permit or anything (even at a discounted rate) because it's own by a 3rd party private company. You still have to pay $25 overnight or whatever the hourly rate is. Sometimes they don't check. But they say they do. I can't understand it. Location In addition, the location is no where near downtown or near public transit To get to anything interesting, you need to drive and have a rental car. I wouldn't suggest staying here unless you have family or need to work up here. Food The buffet breakfast is actually very good, but if you're paying for it, it's a bit over priced. Tons of new restaurants have opened across the street and worth checking out. There is Wifi, but it's still on an old system that wants to make you pay (but you don't actually). All the info cards in the rooms are outdated, and they need to put something in place that doesn't make you call the front desk all in a huff. It's free, but you need to sign up and pretend to pay. Then you get kicked off of it every 3 hours.
