I'm a big fan of Barnes & Noble. Especially since Borders closed it's doors years ago. It became the only game in town and, frankly, it has never disappointed. The Desert Ridge location is probably my favorite not simply because it's closest to me, but the selection, layout and atmosphere are just ideal. The fiction section is set up really interestingly - in a circular patter of bookshelves with a nice reading alcove in the center of it all. The staff is always friendly without being intrusive in any way. They are engaging at the register, like to talk about your book selection and often can make suggestions as to something you may like. This is really my "go-to" spot for reading material. There are other fine, non-chain spots in town, all worthy of a look, but in a pinch you really can't go wrong here for depth of selection, variety and a relaxed atmosphere.
