| - I have been meaning to start reviewing the MANY places I go to every week and have just procrastinated. What a great place to finally begin my review ritual. THIS PLACE IS AMAZING.
First, when we walked in, there was nowhere to sit. A nice gentleman in the corner waived us down and said he would be leaving soon and to have a seat at his table...which we did. He introduced himself as George and apparently is a regular here and had nothing but great things to say in a strong greek accent. I thought that he may be a little biased based on his obvious background, but entertained the pleasant conversation because he was quite the riot.
He then introduced us to the owner. The nicest 80 something year old man you will ever meet that truly cares about his place, his food, and his customers. We decided to each start with a soup on the recommendation of George. I had the tomato basil and my friend had the egg and lemon(because I don't know how to say it or spell it in Greek) soup. Both were amazing. the tomato basil was a rich, heartier texture and you could literally taste each ingredient that created such a wonderful aroma and combo of flavor. It is really great to be able to taste freshness.
We decided to share a sandwich as we weren't super hungry and chose the Spartan Club. Again, what a great combo of flavors that made this Pita-style sandwich taste so great. The pitas themselves just have this fresh feel to them that makes all the difference in the world. We also decided to experiment with something new and have the greek fries to go along with it. Not the healthiest choice, but oh so worth it. If you like cheese...and I don't mean fake, melted, orange stuff... I'm talking real cheese and real flavor, order these...you won't be disappointed.
All in all, a wonderful first time for me. I love finding a neighborhood place that is owned by the "little guy" and will support this place over and over again. Go there, show your support, and say hello to the very nice older gentleman pouring your wine....he will be the one with the smile on his face.
Thanks to everyone at Cyprus
