What is there to say about The Old Fashioned that hasn't been said before?
The cheese curds are really good. The fish fry is pretty nice as well. The haystack onion strings are also salty and delish.
However, I'll have to say that my experience at The Old Fashioned was forever changed when I got their No. 50. Oh yes. It is a "wood-grilled 16 oz. Rib-eye of beef topped with a pat of Wisconsin sweet-cream butter and served with matchstick fries, tiger sauce and grilled Texas toast" for $27.95.
But wait. The rib-eye sits atop the fries, which means the fries taste like meaty goodness. The Texas toast is so buttery and delicious. And that pat of Wisconsin sweet-cream butter? That really makes the meat melt in your mouth.
Also, if you're going for a drink or two, hit up the bar in the second room (not the first bar you see when you walk in). The bartenders there are great!
Oh, since they don't take reservations, try to get there early and put in your name. They'll take down your phone number and text you when a table is ready. That means you can walk around the Square or go grab a drink elsewhere before meandering back.
