| - The Strip, is called The Strip District, to those of us that have been going there for years. It is one very long street about 10 minutes from Downtown, with street parking and pay to park in lots. The Strip has street vendors selling everything from ugly tee shirts to great old photos of Pittsburgh. There are a ton of shops, some nice places to eat and a few great Italian markets. But don't go for all of that, go to enter the famous Wholey's Fish Market. It is right in the middle of the main street (1711 Penn Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15222). If you park across the street you will be validated. It is usually crowded but that is okay. You can check out all the cool stuff up and down the store, but that is not why you are really there. You want one or two of their fish sandwiches. They are the best. They are fried, incredibly unhealthy, and placed on a wonderful bun. There is very little space to eat, but there are a few areas with seating on stools. Do that. You will love their sandwiches. They are fresh and just wonderful. If you have a place to cook when in town, shop there for all your meat, fish, etc. But I assume you are at one of the great hotels in Pittsburgh (The William Penn), so just grab a sandwich, get one to go. Walk the street and have a lovely time. There are a few bars there, that are a yawn. Don't bother. Go for the fish. Enjoy.
