  • Although I was not impressed by the first part of the facility, where you are locked in an empty room and forced to watch a terrible video, the rest of this aquarium is pretty nice, although it ought to be, considering how expensive it is. Basically, it's about what I'd expect for an aquarium housed in a shopping mall and somehow linked with a neighboring Lego-themed attraction. There are two touch tanks, with attendants, so kids and child-like adults can gently stroke tide pool creatures and learn a little bit about them. There is some weird but soothing music playing all around you, sort of new-agey air pudding; you barely notice it as you're there but if you take a video you'll be amazed by its presence. I guess it keeps kids calm, maybe. There are a bunch of fun features, like a tube that allows you to walk through the tank with fish all around you, and little "fishy-spheres" that let you stick you head up into the space of a tank so the fish swim all around you. There are sea horses and an octopus (very shy--we were fortunate to catch it as it was given food inside a little puzzle, which made it more active) and sharks and a sea turtle. There are places where you can climb up and look down into the tanks. There are big fish and little ones. If you have unlimited funds, this is a nice place to spend the afternoon. It feels more commercial than educational, but it's an accredited aquarium and the creatures seem well taken care of. A pleasant visit all around (except for the part where you're shut in with the video at the beginning).
