  • We were staying at the M Resort and since we LUV wine we were dying to try this wine bar in the basement. First issue, they're only open Wednesday thru Saturday.... What's up with that? We were part of a conference that ran Sunday thru Wednesday, so that really limits their ability to get great business from those attending the various conferences within this HUGE conference center. Lucky for us, we were staying several extra days, so we were able to go 3 nights in a row, and we DID!!! The first impression - this place is BEAUTIFUL and is the PERFECT wine bar! Exactly what I'd build if I were to build one. From the stave-veneered ceiling to the many amazing wine racks through-out and all the various card-enabled wine stations, and then the leather couches and small tables, this wine bar is the perfect comfy, cozy place to sit & sip! The staff was nice... the beautiful young lady who's the sommelier was knowledgeable and friendly and ensured were had a good time. There were also two other servers who were really nice. But there was one bartender who wasn't as friendly, he had a bad attitude and acted as if we were bothering him by asking for more food, wine, etc. The food they serve here comes from Anthony's Steakhouse (upstairs in this hotel), so it's amazing! It's also offered at half-price from 7PM - 8PM, so stop in then! The heirloom tomato caprese was OUTSTANDING! They have a VAST selection of wines, most of which are available by sampling pours of 1, 3 or 5 ounces. This is a GREAT way to sample wines you might be interested in, but are generally very expensive, too much so to buy a bottle. The biggest problem we experienced and it happened over and over again was that the wine "vending machines" that do the pours seem to be inconsistent. You put your card in, see your available balance and then select the amount of wine you want poured. it instantly deducts the amount from your card, but you might not get a pour at all. The other issue I have is sometimes I got cloudy wine, which tells me there was some sort of infusion of extra air, which will make the wine go bad if it's exposed too long. The mixed feelings come from the lack of consistent customer service amongst the staff and the lack of continuously operating machines. I really liked one particular wine, but the first night that wine was in a machine causing lots of problems and the last night, that wine (out of all others) simply didn't work at all. We did love the atmosphere and would venture back again, especially since we're into wine and the venue was amazing! But we heard from others in our group who weren't impressed nor wanted to deal with the technical difficulties nor attitudes. Something the Management at The M Resort should work on! The prices were also tooooo high, especially for the single ounce pours.
