Having walked many trails in Red Rock Canyon itself, we figured that we would check out Calico Basin. Free parking was a nice change. Clambered over some rocks at Red Spring and then because of the temperate April weather, we embarked on a winding 6 mile trail that looped and swooped around the basin. Scenery was amazing. Legs were aching when finished. Nice to be able to drive straight out of the Canyon without the customary 14 mile one way loop when in Red Rock itself. If you like hiking, you will find many trails in here to please. A must do at least once.
