  • The air conditioning in my house was installed by Helms HVAC when it was built 18 years ago. 1. Within 7 years, the compressor had to be completely replaced even though it was serviced multiple times. $3500 to fix. 2. The Freon lines leaked to the point where, starting with the second year, I had to replace it each year. After about 9 years, someone found a way to seal the leaks. $600 to fix. 3. They installed non-insulated ductwork on the main floor on my house. After about 10 years, moisture started condensing on the ductwork and caused major stains, some of which dripped onto my floors. Cost to repair - $3000. Contacted owner, Chris Helms. He stated that was code at the time in Fort Mill - and well, tough luck! Every other AC guy that looked at it said "I can't believe they got away with this!"
