| - Updated review (very lengthy):
I have been coming here for nearly five years. My latest couple of visits were slightly disappointing, and it all comes down to the fact that the front desk is always short staffed and under trained. It has not improved since I reviewed them over a year ago, if anything it has gotten worse.
I had an exam on 8/31/17 with Dr Fonza. I called a week prior to make two exams, one for a initial exam and one for the dental. My dental was scheduled for 9/9/17 (also with Dr Fonza). I talked to several different people because I wanted information on the pet plan. I signed up for the pet plan the day of my exam. Everything the day of my exam went great. I left with antibiotics and started them a few days later as he was supposed to be on them one week before and one week after the exam.
I called on 9/8/17 in the evening because I never got a call or email about his dental the following morning. I wasn't sure when drop off was or when to stop giving food. I was told I wasn't in the system for a dental that day (or any day). Not only that, but the girl on the phone said Dr Fonza was not doing the dentals on 9/9, it was Dr Greenwood. She said Dr Fonza never does dental on Saturdays. I asked when Dr Fonza's next available dental was and if it would interfere with his antibiotics. She did not seem to care, and couldn't answer my question because the doctor wasn't there until the following Monday. I understand that, but any doctor in the facility could answer that question and she was not willing to help me out. She talked to Dr Greenwood and was able to squeeze me in on 9/9/17. I felt forced into that appt because she couldn't inquire about my questions regarding his antibiotics, and also because I can only do Saturdays, and she stated Dr Fonza only does Tuesdays.
So....the following morning I dropped off my dog. Again, I wasn't in the system for my dogs name. She searched for my name and found me, she put the appt under the wrong dog. I meet with the vet tech and brought up all my concerns with the vet tech. On my way home 45 mine later, I get a call from Dr Greenwood. The tech told her all my concerns and how I felt forced into the appt. I did not want to see Dr Greenwood, no offense, Dr Fonza knows my dogs complete history and is familiar with his murmur and I trust him 100%, and honestly I do not trust any doctors for that matter. She understood/acknowledged my concerns, and said if I wanted I could reschedule with Dr Fonza for the following Saturday. I was like what, I was told yesterday Dr Fonza doesn't do dentals on Saturdays. She said she's been there for years and her and Dr Fonza rotate every Saturday. She said she could give me another week of antibiotics and get me in with Dr Fonza. I live 45 mins away, and I did not want to have to spend another $40-45 on antibiotics, so I told the Dr to proceed with the dental. She said she did an exam and familiarized herself with his murmur and said she was extremely confident everything would go well. I give a huge thank you and props to Dr Greenwood for keeping me informed throughout the day because she knew I was very unhappy about the whole thing. I talked to her three separate occasions, she followed up with his bloodwork, his chest X-rays (also out of recommendations of Dr Fonza) and even called me when he woke up. I never even met her and I can tell she has excellent bedside manner, but frankly, I should've never been put in that situation.
I had a follow up with Dr Fonza a few weeks ago to go over everything. He goes into so much detail about everything and doesn't rush you out the door. So thank you Dr Fonza, and thank you to Dr Greenwood for keeping me calm and informed the whole day.
My bad review is regarding the front desk staff. They did not book my dental appt and provided inaccurate information. No one here I feel is on the same page. Please train your staff appropriately and staff according because it happens on every occurrence. Every time I call, I repeatedly get put on hold for 5+ mins. I have the pet plan for the next year, I hope to remain there because of Dr Fonza, but I cannot deal with such an unorganized practice.
