| - Okay, I'm not going to go as far as to say Joey's review is WRONG, but I am going to say it's highly unfair.
I made an appointment to come in for a "meet and greet" with a doctor at EaglesMed after getting a 2 month run around from another clinic (see my review on Southwood Medical Centre and you'll see how much worse this industry gets in Calgary), and was immediately booked in less than a week later. Given the rather unimmediate nature of this type of appointment, that's less than I had expected. When I arrived, I was happy to see that, while really nothing revolutionary, this was easily the nicest clinic I've visited in years - everything was clean, new, and had a very professional feeling. The receptionist I talked to on the phone was very courteous and friendly, as were 2 of the 3 ladies at the reception counter when I came in (one was apparently upset about some issue with her hours which was a bit of a put-off, but that happens everywhere).
I recieved a copy of the same document Joey mentions (or rather, rants endlessly about) and yes most of the quotes she lists were still there (though to be fair I could spend my entire review explaining why a lot of her complaints make no sense, I however am chosing to focus on reviewing the clinic rather than run out of space nitpicking a single form). It was, however, no different than what most clinics offer you, except for MAYBE tooting it's own horn a little bit, which bring me to my second small issue. This clinic is very much run like a corporation. They take any opportunity to plaster their logo on something, and love to tout all of their services as the best of the best. It gets a little annoying, but doesn't get in the way of the service.
When I got in to see the doctor after arriving late due to being stuck in traffic (and yes, the allowance of up to 60 minute lateness IS quite generous, by comparrison, and is followed through on as they were very nice about this) I couldn't have been happier. I saw a Dr. Larry Pechowsky, who I didn't find out until later had an average 5/5 rating on ratemds.com and I'm definitely not surprised. He was so friendly it almost seemed like an act, was more helpful than any other Calgary doctor I've seen ANYWHERE (walk ins, family practices, hospitals, specialists, you name it). He also made an exception to the "meet and greet only" policy for the first appointment (only applies to patients getting taken in for family practice) and went through all the test results I had from a previous clinic, before providing me with TWO MONTHS worth of the new medication he put me on, as free samples (where else would you get that?)
I have a couple other minor quibbles such as the difficulty accessing the clinic from transit, and the fact that their "walk in service" isn't really walk-in at all! (I tried to come in for it and was told you still have to call ahead to make an appointment, it just means you can get an appointment without being a family practice patient, and be seen the same day) which was puzzling and off-putting, but after getting more done in less than a week with EaglesMed than I got done in 3 months elsewhere, with a far more positive staff, a great doctor and without spending a cent for my first two months worth of meds, This place still recieves a great grade in my books.
Boastful paperwork be damned, EaglesMed did right by me.
