Having recently relocated from NYC, I was recommended to this office by a colleague of one of my NY physicians. I had to wait two months for a first appointment and was then assigned to Dr. Patel.
The office seemed to be well run and professional and I was seen at the appointed time by Dr. Patel's assistant who took all my information and then brought the doctor in the room.
He then flatly refused to do anything I had come to the office for. One of the procedures (the removal of a rash of milia on both my cheeks that had sprouted up soon after I moved to Phoenix), I was informed was considered cosmetic and therefore not covered by insurance. Even after assuring him he could bill me directly for it, he wouldn't do it.
More serious however was his refusal to treat several scaly scalp growths I get from the sun. I explained that my former dermatologist in New York used a nitrogen torch to burn them off. He literally asked me "what else" had I come for because he wouldn't treat either of those.
Therefore, on my next visit to New York I went to my regular dermatologist and when I relayed the story above to him he was shocked about Dr. Patel's refusal to treat my scalp problems as they were known to be pre-cancerous growths and necessitated treatment.
I'll let that last paragraph speak for itself.
