Driving south along 14th street on Christmas Eve to see the extravagant Christmas light displays has always been a part of family, but it wasn't until this summer that I really spent any time in Confederation park. It's wonderful and way bigger than I had ever expected.
For cyclists, Confederation park acts as the perfect commuter path, keeping you safe from motor vehicles for a NE stretch of about 20 blocks by 10 blocks. If you want to keep riding north from there, it's just a small neighbourhood jaunt eastward to get to the Nose Creek Pathway - the Deerfoot Trail for bikes.
With a creek, bridges, playground, baseball diamonds, a 10th street underpass, and plenty of mowed lawn space, there's plenty of perfectly manicured parkland to enjoy and much that I still haven't explored.
It's a really gorgeous location that is positioned in a way to give you the feeling of not being in the city at all. It's no wonder you see so many couples getting their wedding or engagement photos done here.
