Think Middle East meets CHEERS...
Every time I walk into the Gyro House I hear my name from the owner. These people go out of their way to make you feel welcome and that is one of the reasons I go back. The other is the food - listen to me now and believe me later... this is GREAT Mediterranean chow.
The location is right off the 51 and Shea and easy to get to from anywhere in north Phoenix. Sits in an older center but that gives it charm. If you've ever lived in the Middle East (I have) you know that American restaurant decor is not the norm. I like the atmosphere, it makes it different than Olive Garden!
The rice, the salad and the MEAT is top notch. Always well prepared and plentiful portions. I share a plate or walk out with my next meal in a box.
Try the kabob - excellent. If you are ever jonesing for french fries come here first. Ever since Wendy's changed their fries these are the BEST.
My favorite restaurant in the Middle East was in back of a BP Petrol Station. Gyro House is nicer and closer. Try it. You'll like it.
