I'd give this guy a zero if I could.
He came out on a service call from my buyer's protection plan; the SWG cell was not working right, and though I have 30 years of experience w/conventional pools, I have none on salt pools.
I had previously cleaned the cell as recommended for about four hours in acid/water as recommended by the guys at Leslie's, but it still din't work right. Joe checked the cell, told me it was bad and under warranty but it had not been cared for properly (I don't doubt that, the previous owners were somewhat clueless?) As such, neither Hayward nor my would my protection plan would replace the $700 cell, even though I had paid additional $$ for salt pool coverage. Joe reinstalled the SWG cell and left after agreeing to clean my DE filter the next week for $175, which is $100 more than I paid in The OC for this service. I just needed it done while I was selling and moving from my home in CA.
I came back a few weeks later and the filter had not been serviced. When the pool finally turned to a swamp, I started poking around on Trouble Free Pool and the dudes there recommended a very long acid/water soak until the water stopped bubbling - it took six or more hours to get the crud out.
To cut to the chase? My SWG works just fine, and Joe does not.
