  • This steakhouse inside the Bellagio is rated one of the best steakhouses in Las Vegas and from the minute you step inside you know you are in for a couple of things. Great ambiance and very hefty price tag. Magnificently appointed from the small 8 seat bar when you first walk in to the large tables placed not to closely with views of the fountains through the large picture windows its pure Vegas. Table for 9 on this Saturday night and we are given a large round table where we are seated very comfortably. Fresh baskets of bread, pretzel bread, are a nice start as we peruse this shall we say ok no way around it Ridiculously overpriced menu. There I said it. The wine list is long as it is equally if not one of the most expensive wine lists I've ever seen. In fact most were 300% mark up. There was an exceptional vintage a 2008 Justin Isosceles which for $131.00 was simply marked up 110% which made it the best value on the entire list. Note 5 bottles were consumed tonight. The menu itself is your typical steaks & chops menu with some fish thrown in. Don't think I'll be able to get to each appetizer and entree but I'll try. Appetizer Highlights: Shrimp Cocktail exceptional, Cesar Salad authentic and outstanding. Special tonight Burrata cheese over watercress was really unbelievably good, A dungeous crab cake also as good it gets. Knocks off for poor Seared Foie Gras. Entrees: NY Strip Dry aged incredibly tasty and cooked to perfection but the typical dry aging left it no juice whatsoever. (8) out of 10 (2) Small Bone in Rib Eye with Shishito peppers was tasty with just enough marble to give it some excellent secondary flavor (10) Rack of Colorado Lamb was simply killer, not gamey and rich in color texture and taste. (10) Prosciutto wrapped pork chop was dry and lacked flavor (5) Nice looking but didn't get it done. Pan Roasted Dover Sole was fresh and tasty but completely overpriced at $65.00 (7) Veal Chop was grilled and tasty and hanging off the bone as it should be. Very rich flavor (10) Filet Mignon with Shishito peppers everything a filet should be and then some (even for my friend who tried to ruin it by ordering it medium well :( (10) Sides: Mashed Yukon Gold Potatoes (6) Nothing special Baked Potatoes large giant with all the fixings (10) Mac & Cheese crusty topping and rich and creamy underneath (10) Creamed Spinach lacking that extra kick (6) Glazed Mushrooms again nothing special bland (6) No Deserts were tried. Service was exceptional throughout the meal from every direction. Bottom line is was the price tag worth it? Really borderline as almost every entree except the Sole was top shelf, and the appetizers were great. Ambiance, service exceptional as well. Negatives All but 1 of hundreds of wines were so overpriced we were lucky to find a bottle to order. Sides and prices of entrees were completely outrageous. Kind of a 4 star if you have unlimited spending in your budget as it certainly was not a 100% slam dunk perfection and 1 star off for price points and wine list. 3.5 stars is more like it but we have to be fair.
