| - For a $$$ place, I wouldn't come here unless it was a special occasion, this occasion being Legume's Cheap Date Night (college student struggles). $50 a couple for a three course meal? I'm in!
PUMPKIN-MUSSEL SOUP: WHAT IS THE RECIPE? Dang this was delicious. I practically licked the plate clean.. (loved the chives!) It was a perfect, light appetizer, getting my taste buds excited for what the 2nd course would be like.
SMOKED PORK KIELBASA: In my opinion, I thought that the sauerkraut didn't need to be there, but that's just personal as sauerkraut just isn't my thing. The kielbasa was very tasty! It was complimented well with the crushed potatoes and turnips although with those 2 looking quite similar in color, I was confused at first when I took a bite into the crunchy turnip. Haha. Presentation wasn't the key really here, as everything kind of had the same color scheme. My date's Bluefish dish looked better than mine..
CHOCOLATE TRUFFLE CAKE: I was so looking forward to this but was unfortunately disappointed. Dessert was supposed to be the banger of the meal to leave me feeling really good, but that wasn't the case here. I had expectations of the cake being sweet and decadent, but it had a very dark chocolate kind of taste. The whipped cream didn't look so tasty on top either. Ahh..
SERVICE: On point. Upon walking in, we had a reservation set for 7:45PM and we were seated right away (at a 4 person table although there were only 2 of us, not complaining but just thought it was funny). They were timely about refilling our waters and asking if our meal was okay.
ATMOSPHERE: Comfortable and casual yet still upscale. Dark but not Cheesecake Factory dark and still romantic. Little candle and small dried flower centerpieces. Can definitely hold a conversation fine here, as it isn't too loud or too quiet.
Overall, the experience of Legume was really nice. If I'm looking to splurge and not make the trip to downtown, Legume here I come. It's very likely the only time I'd come back is for the Cheap Date Night, because it's a deal I can't pass up.
