  • I am an avid gardener and have lived in Charlotte for 20 years. Most of the other reviews are correct about the following: 1.) the guy who owns this place (and his daughter, who works there occasionally) are incredibly rude. I have spent thousands of dollars there over the years and they definitely know who I am, but they are just as nasty to me as they are to new customers. I will stay away from there for years at a time because I hate the owner so much, but they do carry some things that are difficult to find elsewhere. 2.) nothing has a price on it and I am sure that is because they size you up when you ask and decide on a price right on the spot. 3.) It is messy a lot of the time and plants aren't always in the best condition; they are frequently root bound. Another caveat - they are not always that inexpensive. Frequently, you can get lower prices at Lowes or Home Depot and those two places even guarantee their annuals for 90 days. I would never shop there except that, as I said, I am looking for a wider selection than the big box stores and at better prices than Pikes.
