| - You know that terrible movie from the 90s, "The dentist"? Well, about 5 years ago I had a terrible experience at another dental office that reminded me of that. This resulted in my swearing off the dentist. I ended up dropping my ins coverage and vowing never to return again. It really is a shame that one experience can do that to a person.
Unfortunately, my kid never had that experience and had recently started asking me to have his teeth cleaned and checked. I was aware that my significant other had made an appt for his daughter recently and really loved Children's Dental Village. So, I made him the appt and cringed at the thought of it all.
We arrived at the office and they have a kids door, he's 12 but come on, a special door for kids? Obviously, he had to go through it and later mentioned he really thought it was awesome they had a kids door. The receptionist was friendly and we were taken back for the exam.
The dental assistant (Janessa) was friendly, she was quick with the xrays, then explained the practice and a bit about each doctor. She spoke to the kid about things he may need to know as we waited for his teeth to be checked. Dr. Padilla (?) came in, took a look and was extremely friendly as well. (So far so good) Mind you I had the expectation that I would have to schedule his cleaning for another day and was surprised that after the exam Janessa mentioned they may have an opening that same afternoon! Obviously easiest for me to only take one day from work.
We came back to get the cleaning done and they have a huge area where the hygienists are doing work. Admittedly, it hurt a bit since it had been 5 years but they made it all really easy.
I was impressed with the office, it actually has me considering finding a dentist I am not terrified of. They have a lovely office and amazing staff and he will most certainly be back for his 6 month check and cleaning. It wasn't too pricey paying out of pocket in my eyes because I expected it. Dr. Padilla didn't recommend things that weren't needed for him (sealant) and those types of things leave me feeling they aren't just in it to make a quick buck.
Super impressed with the whole visit!
