| - I loved the old Gallo Blanco inside the Clarendon Hotel, so was super excited to see them open in a new spot. Unfortunately, ended up being a complete disappointment.
The new location is really nice, love that they repurposed an old neighborhood supermarket. For that, I'd give them 4 stars. But that's the extent of what I found nice about this new location.
The physical set up is confusing as hell. We are told to check in and then wait for our table, but yet there is no physical space to wait! We literally had to stand against a wall with diners no more than 2 feet away. A truly awkward set up.
You're given a table with a # placard on it, you then have to saunter up to a counter to place your order, including drinks. As you can't sit at the table and casually peruse a menu, this made for a super slow and confusing process. If you wanted another drink, you had to go back up to the counter to order. URGGGHHH
After that awful experience, I thought at least I would enjoy our food and drinks. WRONG. I loved the food at the old Gallo Blanco and expected the same quality. My Michelada drink was bad, they literally filled my glass 3/4 with tomato juice, the guacamole was flavorless, the Seafood Cocktail was bland, my salad was soggy with too much dressing and the carne asada tacos were ok, but meat was tough.
I had high expectations and will not be back unless I hear that there is a miraculous turn around.
BTW, you can get full waiter/waitress service if you sit at the bar or in a communal table in the bar area. If you're on a date night, not a good set up.
