| - I found the sushi here to be mostly mediocre. The garden roll is pretty good, but takes a long time to make. Why I am writing here is this: I ordered an avocado roll. Pretty simple and standard, it's just sushi rice, avocado and nori. Well, I took one bite and thought, yuck. There was something wrong here. I took another bite and wondered if the avocado had gone off, even though it looked quite fresh. I summoned the waitress and told her that there was something quite unappetizing about the roll. She said ok and that she would take it off the bill.
Afer a minute, the manager came out with a piece of avocado on a plate, telling me to try it, saying how fresh it was. "Nothing wrong! Nothing wrong!" she said. At first I thought she was trying to reassure me that there was nothing to worry about as far as food-borne illness was concerned. I asked what was in it and she said "avocado, rice, nori and vinegar." Vinegar? Ew. Who the heck puts vinegar in an avocado roll? I guess you don't learn that until Sushi 201?
At the end of the meal, the bill came and the avocado roll was still on it. I brought it to my waitress' attention and she said she talked to the manager and the manager refused to take it off because there was nothing wrong with it. I said, "So you're going to charge me for food I did not eat?" And she said, "Yes, very sorry."
And I realized that was why the manager came out, to show me that it didn't matter whether I liked the food or not, since I ordered it, I was going to have to pay for it.
I left no tip and will never return.
