  • Our AC stopped blowing cold air. It still ran. They came out for $65+$150 same day fee at 10pm that night. Supposedly fixed it. Still wasnt blowing cold air when the sun came up the next day (Friday). No one from Expert mechanical or the home warranty would call back. Monday I called again, they came back out and this time said they couldnt repair because of lack of maintance. They wanted us to pay $320 to have the coils cleaned and then they would replace the capacitor (a $30 part). Hubby was an AC tech for 10yrs. He knew they were scamming us, the compressor was bad (expensive fix). They said we could have the coils cleaned and submit the receipt from a lic company and they would come back out and fix it. We did. They came out yesterday. The AC tech from Expert Mechanical (who is owned by HomeLife Warranty Co.) determined that the unit should be replaced instead of fixed BUT wouldnt cover it because it was improperly installed duct work. The unit has run well for 12 yrs with this duct work, was installed by a licensed AC contractor and has passed inspection. We also called them for a plug outlet outside not working last year and they sent Expert Mechanical out to fix it. Of course, that also wasn't covered and we had to pay him for the repair out of pocket. We also had a valve go bad on our shower (turning the handle wouldn't turn on the water) and big shocker... that also was found to be not covered. See a pattern here??
