| - I'm having to bump this place, whose food I love, down to three stars after my last visit.
I took my best friend, visiting from out of town, here, because I love the food some much. I wound up feeling like an idiot for talking it up so much.
We got seated quickly, and were given water. The waiter asked us if we'd like drinks while waiting for my partner, and I ordered an iced tea. That was the second to last time we saw him.
10 minutes later, still waiting for my partner, and for my iced tea.
Finally, she showed up, and he came back to take our order. Still no iced tea -- he told me it was on the way. We ordered.
My soup came out first (I had wanted it WITH my grilled cheese), and finally, 30 minutes after having sat down, I got my iced tea.
The food, as always, was amazing. The veg friendly broccoli cheddar soup was soup-er tasty (haha...sorry, it's early), and as usual, the bruschetta and paninis were good too.
The problem arouse when we wanted to leave. My bestie wanted a box for her other half of her sandwich, and our server was no where to be found. Upon further look, he was seated at a table at the back of the restaurant. Now, when I used to work in the service industry, even if you were going on break, you'd either finish your tables first, or hand them to another server and let your tables know. He did neither.
We flagged down not one, not two, but THREE different people trying to get a box and our bill. The table next to us, who sat after us, got both their dessert AND their bill before we could even get ours. All three people we asked said they'd bring box and bill right out; no dice. FINALLY, we got the bill. It took another 5 or 6 minutes to get the cards back to sign.
My friend, while she loved the food, was surprised I'd recommended a place with such poor service. I explained it had never been that way before. Regardless, it's going to be a little while before I go back; I don't usually have 90+ minutes to waste.
