I heart Postino.
It's not always my fave but I'm always happy I chose it in the end.
A few girlfriends and I recently light-railed up here and a glass turned into a bottle...into just splitting one more glass...and then another bottle...and then some port. God bless light rail.
We started by each getting a glass of something different to help us decide which bottle to buy (crafty system, eh?) When we decided mine was delish and ordered the bottle. The server informed us that the wine I was served was actually different from what I pointed to on the menu. ?? Turns out they ran out and what I got was actually a huge upgrade...so they honored the price of the original printed bottle and we enjoyed an amazing wine. Gotta love that.
Everyone knows the bruschetta is the bomb- I'm the biggest fan of the prosciutto/fig and the others try to be just as good. This time I was pleasantly surprised by the salmon pesto and warm artichoke.
We also had The Plate- which I've had twice now with meats and cheeses and each time I do I think "d'oh!" why didn't we just get cheese? There's barely enough on the plate to split and white bean hummus is a little underwhelming...next time, wino, just get the cheese plate.
I've also never had the salted caramel dessert...which sorta lived up to it's name. They warm caramel in a shot glass and serve it next to a scoop of vanilla with some pretzels as garnish. It was sorta cheating since I was dreaming of a fleur de sal concoction, but the pretzel/caramel combo was still tasty.
