  • I don't have any problem landing in this airport, going through customs, or going across the street to get my rental car. But every time I have to come back to the airport to fly out of Canada, I feel like I get PTSD, am cursing at myself and all the construction / closures, and my blood pressure doubles. If you're returning a rental car, make sure you get gas ahead of time, at least 3-5 exits prior to the airport, or you will be sweating at every "closed for construction", "detour" sign in sight, and wish you had just sprung for the prepaid tank of gas. Or you'll want to just pay whatever the fine is for not filling the tank if you could just figure out your way back through traffic and maze of construction. If you're traveling back to the U.S., you'll to through customs before going home, so be prepared. There's also no TSA Pre-Check, so if you're banking on that to save some time, think again. If you do have global entry, you will get to go into the shorter security line, but you'll still have to take our your liquids and laptop. Also, once you get through security, don't plan on getting anything decent to eat if you're flying United/AirCanada through the international terminal - even if you're prepared to pay $10-15 for a meal, it will be crappy at best. Grab something ahead of time or go to "The Eatery" just outside of the airport for a good, healthy and reasonably priced meal (I have a Yelp review for that spot, check it out #yourewelcome, #protraveltips) If you're flying within Canada, there are much better food options to choose from. All in all, a pretty atrocious airport to fly back into and try to return a rental car to (almost as bad as Minneapolis) due to the construction and lack of gas stations. Even when there is no construction going on, the whole finding-gas-by-this-airport is horrid at best. Plan accordingly for that, for the lack of good food options, and it will make your airport experience a tad bit better.
