  • BUYER BEWARE!!! If I could leave 0 stars I would. My son and his wife (he's active duty Army stationed in El Paso, Tx and she's a stay at home mom for their 1 yr old daughter) bought a pre-owned Civic SI when they were in town a couple weeks ago. They bought the car on a weekend night and signed preliminary contracts for the purchase. On Monday the credit union came back with a lower interest rate yet their payment stayed the same. Before signing the final contracts on Monday they were told by the finance person that 'nothing had changed' so they signed the final contracts in good faith based on what they were told. Upon recent review of their paperwork, material contract changes were made without their knowledge. The purchase price of the car was increased, the extended warranty they agreed to went from 84 mos to 24 mos (a complete waste of $3,000 because the factory warranty covers the same time period), and they were told that gap insurance that they were sold was 'required' by the credit union (but I don't know if this is true). My son has made several attempts to get the finance person to contact him. No call back. I went to the dealership IN PERSON last night and spoke to the finance person directly and was assured my son would be contacted today. No contact. I called the dealership tonight and asked for names and e-mail addresses for the general and finance managers. No one could help me because no one knew e-mail addresses and their business cards are "in their offices" apparently. I then went to the Showcase Honda "contact" page just now and left a message much like this one and received the following reply: "Thank you for submitting your request for information to Showcase Honda. Here at Showcase Honda, we are committed to providing you with the best experience possible. Unfortunately, based upon your initial request, we were unable to determine the specific vehicle you requested. Please click on the Quick Quote button below to specify your desired vehicle and receive a price quote." Unbelievable. My concerns: 1. Material contract changes to the purchase price and extended warranty to pocket the difference between the quoted and final loan interest rate. This resulted in an approx $500 increase in the purchase price from the first to final contract and the sale of a virtually worthless extended warranty. The changes made to my son's contract were not disclosed to him and were NOT initialed by him in writing. He asked if there were any changes verbally and signed the contract in good faith based on what he was told. He'll never make that mistake again. 2. Virtually impossible to get anyone to respond to you. 3. How many other people does this happen to every day at this dealership? Why am I handling this issue? My son and his family live out of state and can't just drive over to take car of this. He, like many others, have taken an oath to defend Showcase Honda's freedom to screw people over whenever they can (my words, not his). Pathetic. The dealership has until Sunday July 26th to contact either my son or myself. Your finance person should know EXACTLY who I'm talking about. If not, we will register a detailed complaint with copies of both sets of contracts to the Attorney General's office. Dealership - Don't reply with a "thanks for your concern, please contact us at ...". I will NOT contact the dealership again. We've done more than enough on our end. YOU CONTACT ONE OF US. If you are truly concerned about solving this issue you'll figure out how to get ahold of us.
