Just had a haircut at Shag Me, and was looking for some sustenance afterwards. Paymon's was fairly close so my friend and I went in for a quick bite.
When I dine with my gluten-free friend, the first thing we do is ask if they have GF menu items. The hostess said they in fact do! We settled down into a cozy table in a dimly lit dining room. Tealight candles illuminated the tables. The hostess gave us a laminated sheet that had a list of their gluten-free items. My friend noticed that the fries were on the list, but there would be a high chance of cross-contamination.
As we were just looking for a quick bite, we decided to order some hummus (served with cucumber slices) and veggie stuffed grape leaves (dolmas). I ordered the broiled chicken kabob to take home. The hummus was quite smooth and creamy, though I wish we had something else to dip with than the cucumber slices (carrots? celery?). The stuffed grape leaves were okay, I would have liked a bit more seasoning.
The server was friendly and checked on us often. I got my chicken kabob just as we were ready to leave. I didn't check the chicken kabob until I got home, which was unfortunate because I saw that it included the vermicelli pilaf. The server saw that we were ordering from the GF menu (it was just a list of menu items, no description). I would have liked for it come with just plain basmati rice, as I wasn't entirely certain if the pilaf was gluten-free. For next time though, I will make doubly sure what sides are included with the entrees.
