  • Stayed at an Air BNB across the street from Independent City Market and my host recommended shopping here. It was my first day and time in Toronto, so I was unaware of the higher prices--I got the shock of my life when I walked into City Market. Everything from the meat, fruit, cheese, rice, vegetables, and packaged items were extremely overpriced and expensive. A few positives is that they do have a great meat and frozen food section and a fresh prepared bar area with a variety of cooked meats, pastas, and vegetables. This is a nice market for the area, but the cost kept me from coming back. If you have the time I would definitely look for another market in the area that has a better prices.
