I live right across the street from Pogue's so I go there quite a bit. If you just want a pint with pals, it's perfect.
Dinner: Standard pub fare. Stews, pies, and burgers are ok but that's about as adventurous as I'd get here.
Brunch: Terrrrrible. Completely dehydrated omelettes, bad eggs benedict (I knew I wouldn't get real hollandaise but it was particularly bad even for half-baked eggs benny); even the home fries weren't very hot or. . .good. I remember there being a more comprehensive menu for their brunch in the summer--I also remember it not sucking so hard so I'm not sure if there's been a changeup or if my memory is just bad.
Conclusion - Pogue's does what it's supposed to do well: serve you beer. I don't think it's aspiring to be a gastro-anything, so maybe this rating is a bit unfair. The fact that they've branched out into an unnecessary and bad brunch menu is a misstep in my opinion.
