All these years I've been coming out to Lake Las Vegas, I really didn't know much about the Hilton. I didn't realize they have their own separate vehicle entrance from Lake Las Vegas Parkway, which leads to their valet/check-in area or to the same parking garage as the rest of the village.
I participated in my third year of the Rose Regatta Dragon Boat Festival this past weekend. With our first race marshaling around 8am, I decided to book a last minute room at the Hilton. I took advantage of a Hotels.com credit combined with what appeared to be a last minute rate sale. For the most part, I did it to let the girlfriend sleep a little longer instead of dragging her out to the lake with me at 630am.
Checking in around 9pm, the process was quick and friendly. Valet let me leave the car in the front entrance area for a few minutes before we ultimately self parked in the garage for the night. That's one down side to the property--it's quite a walk from the garage, especially if your room is on the lake side.
Indeed, our room was a "lake view," but our second floor vista was hampered by their big event tent. Not a big deal. The room itself was much nicer than I was expecting. The decor is very classy and almost presidential. The girlfriend remarked that she felt like we were in Washington DC.
The king bed was comfortable, which didn't help with needing to get up for our 7am team meeting. We got complimentary water bottles with complimentary (albeit terrible) coffee pods for the machine. The bathroom was a nice size with a separate shower and tub.
Perhaps next year I'll book a two nighter for the regatta. Totally unnecessary but a nice luxury. Wish they would stop with all this resort fee nonsense though.
