Our bichon is almost 14 and has been with Greentree Animal Clinic since he was 7 weeks old. He's always been relatively healthy until almost a year ago when he started getting sores and redness around his mouth. We brought it up on at least 5 occasions. Dr Mann wasn't concerned. One occasion we were able to see Dr. Ruether, who was very concerned. He put him on steroids and gave him an injection of antibiotics. He got better for a short period of time but it never took long to come back. Dr. Mann was not concerned. We explained that our dog's personality had changed and he was mean and would go crazy when we tried to touch him. Finally, after 4 to 5 visits with no resolution, we took him for a second opinion to Bridgeville Animal Hospital. Dr. Rubin was caring and compassionate. She suggested a biopsy to see what was going on. Sadly, the results of the biopsy show our beloved boy has cancer-Cutaneous Lymphoma which doctors believe he has had for "quite a while". The sores on his face turned out to be small tumors. I'm still in shock that we wasted so much time at a practice where they weren't interested in even trying to find out what was wrong. He should have been diagnosed a year earlier when he could have had better quality of life and we wouldn't need to feel guilty for failing to provide him with competent care. Never. Again.
