Why brave the elements outside when you can get around downtown in the world's longest skywwalk system? This 16km network lets you go from building to building without leaving the comfort of room temperature.
While some areas seem to be poorly planned and can get you a little turned around, there's maps throughout the network to get you back in the right direction. The system connects you through shopping malls, food courts, museums, and many other services. Architecturally, each bridge over the street is unique. Some are quite grand, like the one that connects to Holt Renfrew, while others are more of a means to an end to get you from one building to another.
There is so much to see and do throughout the network that you don't even need to go outside, which was the plot of a movie just over a decade ago (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0219405/).
