| - SPA REVIEW ONLY. Not trying to shed negative light on the yoga studio, it actually seemed lovely.
I visited Tula South yesterday to redeem a Groupon I purchased recently for a Scrub, Wrap and Massage. The whole treatment was a total let down. I normally frequent Elixir Spa at King and Tecumseth, but was hoping to save a few bucks and check out somewhere new as I wanted a decent exfoliation before a vacation. Shouldn't have bothered.
The Salt Rub: Was hastily applied to arms, back and legs. No chest, stomach or butt was even offered. For those of you that have had a Scrub before - usually Scrub is the operative word. The idea is to work the dead skin off, not gently apply it.
I was then left for 15 minutes - no explanation given. The Salt was then removed with a hot towel, so clearly salt was still all over the table and myself.
The "Wrap": An extremely thin coating of a seaweed mask was HASTILY applied again only to arms legs and back. Usually a wrap you receive a thick mask and then are actually wrapped in plastic and have a heating mechanism applied. No such luck, with a useless thin layer applied haphazardly to some of my skin I was left under a sheet which absorbed the majority of the mask - and left there for over thirty minutes!! In a 90 minute treatment, 30 minutes of being left with a useless mask on was such a waste. All she said was 'Just relax for a bit' and left.
When she finally came back I was given a robe to put on and led to the change rooms for a shower. This wasn't all that bad, but I really do prefer when spa rooms have a shower in them having to trot through the lobby in a short robe was not my favourite thing.
The Massage: Only included a brief scalp massage, followed by back, legs and feet. That is hardly a whole body massage. After a scrub and a 'wrap' you should have lotion massaged in at the very least to all areas that had been treated - why not include my arms? The therapist asked me if I wanted soft or medium pressure - I said hard - and she barely touched my skin.
Honestly, the whole thing was a waste of time. The Therapist, Isabelle, seemed rushed the entire time and did not provide any sort of a serene environment, coming in and out of the room because she kept forgetting product, banging things around, it was just terrible. If you have this Groupon I wouldn't bother going, it was more frustrating to waste my time.
