My husband and I came here on a Friday morning in early January to hike this well known trailhead. It was quite a drive to get to the starting point, so that's my only concern. We could have taken Windgate and hiked all day, but chose to do the shorter, 4.8 mile trip. It took us around 50 mins to get up and 40 to get down. We explored a bit at the top and saw some incredible views. I would love to hike to this summit from Windgate or the other trailhead, but I will do that when I have more time. The trail itself is well maintained, and the facilities at the parking lot are nice as well.
