| - When I'm in Calgary, I go here a lot to grab a bite to eat, do some work, and relax. Service is fine, albeit a bit slow, but the food is always excellent. The atmosphere is peaceful and airy, great for focusing on something or meeting up with friends. I went here a few weeks ago, and tested some of the new items. The new mac and cheese on the menu is particularly tasty, with a nice kick of black pepper in the sauce. I had the lemon meringue tart for dessert. The meringue was perfect, but the crust of the tart was a bit too firm. Other desserts I've had, such as the creme brulée and macarons, however, are very enjoyable. I'm not a coffee junkie, so I just drink water and can't speak to the caffeination. There are always a few minor quibbles, but by and large, my experiences here are very positive. My one note on operational proceedings from my last visit was that the restaurant closed at 8 PM, which struck me as a bit too early, especially when it has to compete with Higher Ground. Again, quibbles, but the big picture is good.
