Old style service and plush surroundings are such a treat. Lots of courses including three complimentary courses -- a relish tray and Parmesan rye toasts upon arrival, a lemon sorbet after the salad course, and a tray of chocolate dipped fruit plus a large fresh fruit bowl after dessert.
We had a group of five and tried lots of different items. The shrimp cocktail was served in an ice bowl the was lit from beneath. The William J.'s salad was my favorite dish of the evening. The Caesar was not a hit, one was too bland and the other had too much anchovy. Escargot also not terrific. Speaking arch salad was delicious.
Veal dish - not sure of the sauce- was good, sea bass was good, lamb was good, sole was too mild, sirloin steak was huge. Broccoli side with hollandaise was perfectly cooked, shoestring potatoes were good, and the creamed corn was my second favorite dish of the night. Desserts were all good especially the bananas foster.
The service was spectacular. Looking forward to our next occasion.
